16 Apr Planning permission granted for £215m L&G senior living scheme
Legal & General’s senior living business Inspired Villages has secured planning permission for a £215m scheme in Kingswood, Surrey.
The development, on the site of the insurer’s former head office, will be one of the UK’s largest retirement communities by value. Over 43 acres, it will have 270 flats and 10 respite units, which will help ease pressure on the NHS and local care services.
There will be a wide range of amenities on site including a swimming pool and wellness centre, and a small business centre and children’s nursery for the wider community.
Inspired Villages chief executive Jamie Bunce said: “This scheme will transform the vacant building into a vibrant community and provide a high-quality later living offer that will attract older people and help free up local family housing. It will also provide a range of new facilities for local residents to use.”
